About the Iraqi American Cultural Center (IACC)
Who We Are
The Iraqi American Cultural Center (IACC) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in March 2024 in California (Entity 6104998). We are a dedicated group of community members working to preserve, celebrate, and share the rich cultural history and proud heritage of Iraq within the diverse fabric of American society. Operating strictly as a non-sectarian entity, the IACC functions without any political, ethnic, or religious affiliations, welcoming all individuals who wish to engage with our community. Our Financial Policy is transparent.
Our Mission
To promote a deep, mutual understanding and strengthen community relations between the American and Iraqi people by initiating and managing impactful social, educational, cultural, and charitable activities.
Our Goals
- Foster Community & Belonging: Create a warm, pleasant atmosphere through regular meetings to build strong social bonds and support systems for both long-term residents and newly arrived immigrants.
- Engage the Next Generation: Nourish our rich heritage by involving Iraqi-American youth and their families in social activities that emphasize their vital role in modern society.
- Celebrate Cultural Identity: Educate the general public and preserve Iraq’s ancient history, arts, and traditions through community programs.
- Build Civil Alliances: Cultivate close ties with California cities and local municipalities to actively participate in regional heritage events.
Membership Requirements
Membership is an inclusive, 12-month annual commitment open to anyone of Iraqi descent, as well as any individual who appreciates and wishes to support our cultural mission. (Our Bylaws)
- Tiers & Fees: We offer Regular, Gold, and Platinum membership tiers. Dues are determined by the Board of Directors, payable one calendar year in advance, and due on the first day of your enrollment month.
- Privileges: Active members in good standing enjoy complete voting rights, opportunities to hold executive office, service and volunteer privileges, and direct access to internal scheduling.
- Application: Prospective members must submit a signed application to a board member, which is finalized upon a simple majority approval by the Board of Directors.
- Honorary Members: Our honorary membership includes many valuable community leaders and partners to enhance on our mission and outreach.
Our Target Partners
To maximize our community impact, the IACC proactively seeks collaborative partnerships across several key sectors:
- Municipalities & Local Government: Partnering with California city councils and cultural boards to secure slots in public heritage festivals and regional events.
- Educational Institutions: Collaborating with school districts, local universities, and youth development associations to introduce educational materials about Iraqi history.
- Local Businesses & Catering Networks: Seeking corporate sponsors, local venues, and community-minded businesses to support our large-scale cultural events, anniversaries, and seasonal celebrations.
- Artists, Musicians, and Public Figures: Inviting cultural talents to headline our community gatherings and foster creative dialogues.
